Monday, Feb. 9

Today we poured the concrete floor for Pastor Edwin's house in Ayapa. It took several hours of hard manual labor, but by 5:00 O'clock this afternoon it was completed. It really impressed me how well our team and the Hondurans we were working with got along. We laughed at each other, we made hand signs at times trying to tell each other something. We teased one another as well, all in good fun.

Pastor Edwin will be moving into his home this Friday. You can tell he is very excited as well as his wife and three sons. We hope they will enjoy this home for years to come.

Also, this afternoon, we started a chicken coop that Pastor Edwin will be able to supplement his income through the selling of eggs. Pray that this venture will be sufficient enough that he will be able to provide for his family.

Tomorrow will be our laqst day here. We will be sad to leave, but happy to be back home with our families, as well as, our church family.

Saturday, Feb. 7

Good morning from beautiful Honduras.

Well, it is off to work and for some reason everyone is in a hurry today. We're at he job site thirty minutes earlier than normal. Pastor Edwin is right behind us an pastor Franklin with help show up shortly. Pastor Juan and son came from Olanchito last night and are at the job site today.

Work begin with setting seven wood trusses. Kenny and Eddie are calling out pearling measurements to Jeep, so the roof structure can be tied all together. Midmorning comes . All trusses are up and tin is going on the roof. Everyone is swaping gear into wrecking and cleanup mode.

This is the end of another work day, ¾ of metal is on the roof, inside the house cleaned up and we are ready to help our Honduran brothers concrete the floors starting Monday. It always amazes me what God can do with a willing mind and body. Phillipians 4:13

Friday, Feb. 6

Welcome to Yo Blogers on Ballardsville Baptist Churches 2009 Honduras Mission Trip.

Last night it rained all night and lighty throughout the day, but we worked on. We finished powring a concrete wall on top of the house walls. We also finished building the trusses for the roof. Before we left, we were able to set three of the tem trusses on the new house. All in all it was a productive day.

After supper, we drove to another local Baptist Church to show the Jesus Movie. It was on the east side of Yoro, on the edge of town, on the side of a hill on muddy roads. O well, all the roads are a challenge here. We had about 27 watch the movie with us. They had to run an extension cord about half a block to power the laptop, the projector and lights. That's the Honduran way to (Get R Done).

Thursday, Feb. 5

It has been an outstanding trip. Last night we split up, Bro. Rick preached a revival and seven of us went to show Jesus Film. The Church was called San Diego, we had built it last year in the mountains.

It has been raining on and off all week. To get there and back was a job in itself.

There is no water or electricity in the area. The Church was total darkness, except for the movie. We installed the projector to the bus battery. There was 75 people in attendance, men, woman, teenagers. The little children was sitting in some of our laps. They just wanted to touch you. Most probably had never seen a movie, and then to see a movie about Jesus, and how he died for their sins.

Eleven people a ccepted Christ!

Wednesday, February 4

Oh my, I do not know where to begin. On Monday and Tuesday it was bright and sunny. On Tuesday night the rain started. It was a little chilly. Wednesday it rained all day and it was downright cold. The men had gone to show the Jesus Film in San Diego. While they were gone we scoured every crate hunting for blankets thet we “knew” would be there. But to no avail.
But our God is good and supplies for all our needs. He walked us right by the extra tableclothes that we brought. He gave us the idea to use them as blankets. We cut them in half and put them on our beds and by His blessing I stayed warm and toasty. Praise God for watching over us.

The construction project slowed down a little due to the rain. It looks like we will be building the trusses tomorrow. In the morning, Arnold was interviewed live by a local christian radio station. It was a great moment when he shared that the reason our team comes to Honduras is to obey God and because of our love for them. People called to the radio station asking us to pray for them. It was very humbling. At night we had the Jesus Film Team in San Diego, the area we worked last year. The road was difficult and muddy, but it was worth of it. Eleven people came to Jesus. Rick preached in Ayapa. Some decisions were made and the church was very encouraged. Tomorrow we will start the revival meetings at Berea Baptist.

Tuesday Feb. 3

Our day was great. We continued to build the parsonage for the church in Ayapa. We did lots of progress and half of the bond beam is already poured. Big part of our blessing is to work side to side with the Honduran bretheren.

During the afternoon we continued our three days VBS at Emmanuel Baptist Church. The first day we had 65 children, this time 95 showed up. Keri, pastor Franklin's wife is doing a great job leading the activities along with a group of volunteers from Berea Baptist. Every body is having a ball.

The revival at the soccer field in Ayapa was good. The whole service was a celebration of Jesus and brother Rick preached a very inspiring message. A bunch of people came forward.

We did not present Jesus film tonight, but will do it again wednesday in San Diego. Please pray with us that people will continue to come to Jesus through every one of the evangelistic activities we are having every day.

We are in Honduras

Dear family and friends,
It has been three days since we left and great things are happening. We arrived to San Pedro went to our hotel and bought supplies on Saturday.
On Sunday, we traveled from San Pedro Sula to Yoro, we got situated at the bunk house, and we attended church with pastor Franklin at Berea Baptist. Brother Rick preached a very encouraging message and one person got saved.
On Monday we worked the construction project in Ayapa during the day. The foundation was already in place. We laid concrete blocks. The walls are almost completed now. At night we divided in two teams. Brother Rick and brother Luis headed to Ayapa where they are sharing in a three days revival at the community soccer field. There was a good crowd there, and the whole service was a joyful celebration. The rest of the group went to present “Jesus Film” in San Juan, where we have helped some with the building and had VBS last year. The screen was set in the middle of one of the communities streets and the film began. It was a great time. Three people received Jesus as their personal Savior.
Every one is doing well in the team. Thank you for your prayers.

Building The Kingdom...

Ballardsville Baptist Church and a group of people from different churches around La Grange, KY and Huntsville, AL have partnered to help Honduras Churches to grow and develop. This year is not the exception. Our team will be in Honduras from Jan. 31 to Feb. 12.

We will be building a parsonage for Pastor Edwin on the church property at Ayapa, Honduras. It will be 23' X 35' with 3 bedrooms, 1 bath, kitchen, living and dining room combination. We will also do a vacation bible school program at Emanuel Baptist Church in Yoro, Honduras. Bro. Rick Lucas will be preaching a 3 day revival at Berea Baptist Church, as well as, sermons on 3 different nights.

Over the past few years, we have constructed 5 churches in the Yoro area, as well as, 50 small 14' X 20' concrete block houses. We are going to show The Jesus film in all 5 churches in Spainish. As you can see, we have a lot on our plate. Please pray that God will bless our efforts and many can hear the good news of Christ and that many will be convicted to accept Him as Lord and Savior of their lives. Also, pray for safety while we are on the job, for good health and for a safe journey to and from Honduras.
